*P.O* “Sell me a book for crying out loud!”

Due MAY 14

Groups of 2

Reading Requirement: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie

Idea:

In order to wrap up The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, we will be creating our first picture brochure book report. In order to create this brochure, we must have first read the whole book, in order to select pictures and quotes that resemble the characters, setting, themes, and top two events in the story. Remember we are trying to sell the book to an audience that has never read the book. You can be as creative as you like. However, when choosing the pictures and quotes make sure there is no inappropriate language.

What needs to be on the Brochure?

  • Brochure must have aTable of Content in order for the reader to know the order of the Brochure.
  • The brochure must contain the Setting, Characters, events, and themes.
  • There must be atleast two pictures/quotes for each character you decide are important enough to demonstrate in the brochure, one for the setting, two pictures/quote for themes and two for the events, (however, you can add up to four events.)
  • No more than four pictures or quotes for each category.
  • Two of the quotes must be from the book.

Remember:

The brochures will be presented, so make sure you know why you chose those pictures/quotes because you will have to explain the reason for your choice’s during your presentation. (Note the pictures for reference)

After the presentation:

  • Remember to attach the rubric to the brochure – your grades will be written there.
  • I would like a quick reflection 1-2 page’s, on how you would have done this assignment differently and what you enjoyed about it.
  • This is due the day after your presentation, May 15 at the end of class.
  • The reflection must be typed. 12 font, Times New Roman, Double spaced and yes guys black or blue ink, I know the new yellow and purple ink is in but I am blind as a bat and won’t grade it if I can’t see it. Thanks!

Most sections of the brochure have a clear beginning, middle and end.

Less than half of the sections of the brochure have a clear beginning, middle and end.

*My foreseen difficulty with this project is that the children might not have the proper software to create the brochure. Since this could be a problem, I will provide class time to work on the project in the computer lab for those that want to built the brochure online.
