Reading “Calvin and Hobbes” came later in life. Before then, I grew up devouring comics of every ilk, so this graphic novel was not a novelty so much as a return to things familiar. Well, this book as simple as it appears, offers a beautifully executed commentary about race, identity, and self-acceptance. What more could one ask for?
